Orthopedics and traumatology

Veterinary orthopedics and traumatology helps diagnose and treat diseases, injuries and other movement system pathologies of animals’ bones, joints, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscles. Orthopedic problems may manifest as limping, pain, reduced activity or reluctance to move.

At our clinic, all orthopedic procedures are performed for small and large-breed animals — from the treatment of bone fractures, deformities and cruciate ligament ruptures to complex orthopedic operations, including hip replacement. Modern diagnostics and an individually selected treatment plan help accurately determine the cause of the problem, reduce pain and improve your pet’s quality of movement.

The most common orthopedic problems in small breed animals:

  • Traumatic bone fractures
  • Medial dislocation of the patella
  • Cranial cruciate ligament rupture
  • Bone deformation

The most common orthopedic problems in large breed dogs:

  • Cranial cruciate ligament rupture
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Dysplastic changes of the elbow joint
  • Osteochondritis of the shoulder joint

Diagnostics

  • The only X-ray machine of its kind in Lithuania, meeting the latest European standards.
  • C-arm — allows the surgical process to be visualized in real time, providing the possibility to make smaller incisions and reduce tissue trauma.
  • Computed tomography (CT) — stands out for its speed and efficiency in diagnosing injuries and bone damage.
  • Laser therapy — used for tendinopathies, muscle strains, injuries and faster healing after surgery.

Treatment

  • Surgical
  • Medication-based
  • Stem cell therapy

We are one of two clinics in Lithuania that treats cranial cruciate ligament rupture by leveling the tibial plateau (TPLO), thereby eliminating the main cause of ligament rupture — excessive load.

A hip replacement operation, which is still new in Lithuania, is also performed at our clinic. You can read more about it here.
