When is laparoscopy performed?

  • Female pet castration;
  • Removal of retained testicles in males;
  • Ovariectomy — removal of ovaries;
  • Biopsy taking for internal-organ tissue tests;
  • Removal of cystotomy stones from the urinary bladder;
  • Gastropexy — fixation of the stomach to reduce the risk of gastric dilatation.

Preparation for surgery and post-operative care

  • The animal must not be fed for 12 hours before the operation.
  • It is recommended to perform blood tests before the operation in order to assess the pet’s health condition.
  • Anesthesia plans are selected individually for the pet, depending on age, health condition and the planned surgical intervention.
  • After the operation, an e-collar or protective clothing is usually required.
  • Sutures are removed after 10 days.
