Vaccination of dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits in Kaunas

Šunų, kačių, šeškų ir triušių vakcinanavimas Kaune

Vaccinating dogs

There are two vaccination schedules

  1. Puppies can be vaccinated for the first time at 6 weeks of age, for the second time at 8 weeks of age and for the third time at 12 weeks of age. We recommend this for puppies of small breeds or when there is a real risk of contracting a viral disease (e.g. if there has been a sick dog at home or nearby).
  2. If there is no risk of disease, the puppy can be vaccinated according to the second vaccination schedule. The first vaccination should be given at 8 weeks of age and the second at 12 weeks of age.

Vaccination of ferrets

Ferrets are vaccinated according to the rules for puppies.

Cat vaccinations

Kittens are vaccinated in a different way. Depending on the vaccine, the first vaccination should be given to a kitten at 2 or 3 months of age. Re-vaccination should be given at 3 or 4 months of age respectively.

Rabbit vaccination

Rabbits should only be vaccinated once at 10 weeks of age. It is recommended to vaccinate rabbits in early spring, as they will acquire immunity at the time when it is most needed, i.e. spring, summer and autumn when the risk of infection is highest.

Further vaccinations. Puppies, kittens, ferrets and rabbits should be vaccinated every year thereafter.

What do I need to know before vaccination?

About 10 days before your pet is vaccinated, it is very important to de-helmintise your pet, i.e. you should give it de-worming medication.

Take care of your pet’s health by vaccinating it on time! You can do this at the Kaivana veterinary clinic in Kaunas.

Who needs vaccinations?

Vaccinations are a way to protect your pet from dangerous infectious diseases.

Why is the age of the animal important for vaccinations?

At a certain age, the maternal immunity of animals weakens and the risk of disease starts to increase. It is therefore very important to get the necessary vaccinations on time.

Which pets should be vaccinated?

Dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits, as well as other large animals should be vaccinated.
